Our Story
UNITY. EXCELLENCE. SCHOLARSHIP.
Rooted in Purpose,
Built for Legacy.
Born in 2011 from a shared vision, QBAS was built by Black students who refused to let their community go unseen at Queen's University. What started as a passion project between a handful of graduate and undergraduate students has grown into one of the most impactful organizations on campus — a home for Black excellence, advocacy, and belonging.

A Commitment to
Black flourishing
The Queen’s Black Academic Society (QBAS) is committed to hosting a minimum of four events per month, offering diverse programming that supports the holistic development of Black students. These initiatives include Real Talks, academic and professional development opportunities, student affairs programming, advocacy and volunteering initiatives, and larger social events that foster community and belonging. Through this commitment, QBAS strives to address the academic, professional, social, and personal needs of Black students, ensuring they have access to the resources, opportunities, and support networks necessary to thrive both within the institution and beyond.
